Since this property is a USDA Section 515 property with rental assistance for some or all units, there might be seperate or split waiting lists for rental assistance and non-rental assistance units. In this case, the rental assistance waiting list can be much longer than properties without rental assistance. The non-rental assistance units waiting list is likely much shorter or it may not have a waiting list at all. You should contact the property to verify.
Note: Affordable Housing Online has not confirmed the waiting list status directly with the property. This waiting list status forecast is based on our housing experts' knowledge of similar properties. You should always confirm this status directly with the property.
Thank you for visiting our web site, we look forward to being of service to you. Here at Cornelius Village we are in the heart of the older section of town known as Olde Mill Village. The Town of Cornelius was established in 1893 and incorporated in 1905 as a thriving cotton community. Cornelius has grown to nearly 12,000 people in the 2000 census. Since Lake Norman (one of N. Carolina's largest man made lakes) was created near Cornelius by Duke Power Company in 1963 this area has become a popular recreational and residential area. We enjoy easy access to Interstate 77 which connects to Interstates 85 and 40 in 15 to 30 minutes. Many shopping areas can be found within 5-10 minutes in Cornelius, Mooresville, and Huntersville. Concord Motor Speedway is 20 minutes away in Concord. Downtown Charlotte is only 15 minutes from Cornelius and has professional sports stadiums with a variety of world class events. Cornelius Village Apartments is a family property that is subsidized by U.S. Department of HUD. We have a total of 30 units, 16 three bedrooms and 14 two bedrooms. There is a waiting list for apartments with a wait of approximately 2 months. Applications can be mailed to you if you call and request one be sent to you. We look forward to seeing you at Cornelius Village soon.
This property was financed by the USDA Section 515 program. This housing program was used to build affordable apartment communities in rural areas from the 1970’s through the 1990’s, with very few new properties built since then. Historically, the program had financial restrictions that limited the size, quality and amenities at properties. Unless Cornelius Village Apartments has been renovated, it is likely to have smaller units and fewer amenities. Since the property is in a rural area, it may be one of only a few affordable rentals in the area. This property also participates in the Section 8 Project-Based Rental Assistance program that helps residents pay rent. If your income is at or below 50% of the AMI, you would only pay 30% of your income toward rent. Since the property has a tenant-based subsidy, it is likely to have a longer waiting list than other properties. If you need help paying your rent and you live in a rural area, this property might be for you. Since this property participates in the Section 8 Project Based Rental Assistance program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.

Applying for housing with bad credit.
Most HUD housing programs, like Section 8 and Public Housing, do not have a credit check. But Section 8 landlords will likely require one for an available unit.Mili Rodriguez says:
