Upper Story Apartments Waiting List

The Brattleboro Housing Authority (BHA) is accepting Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for Upper Story Apartments from the earliest confirmed open date of February, 2021 until further notice.

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application.

This waiting list has the following preferences:

Live, work or have notice to work in: Brattleboro, Vernon, Guilford, Halifax, Marlboro, Newfane, Brookline, Putney, or Dummerston, VT.
Disabled
Formally Homeless and currently living in a permanent supported housing program or rapid rehousing project (shelter plus care, transitions to housing, family supported housing, youth transitional housing).

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Six 2 BR apartments in a multi-family house. Heat and hot water included, parking, on-site lundry, trash removal, and recycling. Handicapped accessibility, income eligibility required.

Dave's Thoughts On Upper Story Housing

Because Upper Story Housing participates in HUD's HOME program for rental housing and the LIHTC program, at least some of the units in this property are set aside for households earning 60% or less of the AMI and rents are capped at the local FMR and in many cases much lower. For a HOME project of this size, some of the units are set aside for households at or below 50% AMI with a corresponding lower rent cap. As this property appears not to have a project-based subsidy or any other Federal assistance, you likely will have to pay your own rent, albeit, at a lower rent amount thanks to the HOME and LIHTC programs. Since this property participates in the HOME and LIHTC programs, the property is required to accept Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
