This waiting list is for Other Disabled rental housing assistance in Portsmouth, Virginia.

The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) will accept Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for 3-Bedroom apartments at Hope Village Apartments from February 20, 2024 at 9:00 am, until February 22, 2024 at 4:00 pm ET. 

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application.

The maximum income limits for each household size are as follows:

  • 1 Person $41,580 | 5 Persons $64,200
  • 2 Persons $ 47,520 | 6 Persons $68,940
  • 3 Persons $53,460 | 7 Person $73,680
  • 4 Persons $59,400 | 8 Persons $78,420

This waiting list has the following preferences:

  • Live or work in the City of Portsmouth
  • Elderly and/or Disabled
  • PRHA Section 8/HCV participant terminated due to insufficient funding.
  • Veteran
  • Involuntarily displaced by government action in the City of Portsmouth.
  • Homeless as defined by HUD.

100 selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

Accessible Units, 1, 2 and 3-Bedroom has preferences for: Elderly, Live, Work, or Attend School Locally, Veterans, Homeless, Disabled, Terminated from Assistance Due to Lack of Funding. Preferences are not required but Disabled applicants that meet these criteria will be moved up the waiting list.
