The Yolo County Housing (YCH) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is closed.

The YCH last accepted applications for this waiting list from August 22, 2022, until September 7, 2022, or when the maximum number of applications were received. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • The PHA will offer a preference to any family that has been terminated from its HCV program due to insufficient program funding. These families will automatically be at the top of the waiting list when funding becomes available. Therefore, the point system does not apply to these families.
  • Two points – Displaced by Government Action
  • Two points – Working Families/Elderly/Disabled - Families with at least one adult who is employed at least 20 hours per week and has been employed for six months; this definition includes families where at least one adult was employed and is currently receiving unemployment benefits. This preference is automatically extended to families where the head of house and spouse/cohead are elderly (62 years of age or older) or meet the HUD definition of disabled.
  • One point – Residency Preference – Applicants who live, work, or are hired to work in the County of Yolo.
  • One point – Military Preference – Any citizen of the United States who served in the active military, naval, or air service of the United States who received an honorable discharge or released from active duty under honorable conditions. This preference applies to veterans and the surviving spouses of veterans.
  • One point – Youth Exiting the Family Unification Program (FUP) – Participants whose FUP Youth Assistance is expiring and will have a lack of adequate housing as a result of their termination from the program.
  • One point – Mainstream – Eligible Mainstream voucher families, who are non-elderly persons with disabilities and their families.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.
