There are seven (7) waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country next week! Preparing early for an upcoming opening helps you be ready to apply when the waiting list opens, which may help you get housing over others.
Tip: Applicants do not need to live in the area to apply to most waiting lists.

Muskingum County, Ohio Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority (ZMHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from April 8, 2024 at 9:00 am, until April 15, 2024 at 4:00 pm ET. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in March, 2023.
Crestview, Florida Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Crestview Housing Authority (CHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from April 8, 2024 at 7:30 am, until April 15, 2024 at 5:30 pm CT. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in August, 2018.
Prichard, Alabama Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Prichard Housing Authority (PHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications are being accepted from April 8, 2024 at 9:00 am, until April 12, 2024 at 11:59 pm CT. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in May, 2020.
Marion, Illinois Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The Housing Authority of the City of Marion (HACM) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from April 8, 2024, until further notice. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in June, 2023.
Miami Beach, Florida Senior Public Housing Waiting List
The Housing Authority of the City of Miami Beach (HACMB) will accept Senior Public Housing waiting list applications for Rebecca Towers South from April 9, 2024 at 9:00 am, until April 10, 2024 at 4:00 pm ET.
Panama City, Florida Public Housing Waiting List
The Panama City Housing Authority (PCHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 2 and 4-Bedroom apartments from April 10, 2024 at 8:00 am CT, until 200 applications have been received.
Westchester County, New York Section 8 HCV Waiting List
The White Plains Housing Authority (WPHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from April 11, 2024 at 8:30 am, until April 12, 2024 at 3:00 pm ET. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in June, 2019.
There are no new waiting list openings next Friday.

Section 8 vouchers can be moved to another area.
Once certain conditions are met, a Section 8 voucher may be transferred to another area (known as "porting").Roxana Gonzales says:
