On the last day of this week, Affordable Housing Online has three big waiting list updates for Section 8, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing on the West Coast and in Midwest.
This is your affordable housing waiting list alert for Friday, July 12, 2024:
These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
Monterey County, California Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
At the top, there's one big waiting list closure today. The Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (HACM) is closing its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list after being open for two weeks. Applications will be accepted until July 12, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT.
There are several preferences that will be considered in the selection process. Out of all applicants, 5,000 will be randomly selected and placed on the waiting list based on these preferences. Those interested in applying must complete the online application during the specified period.

These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are either open now or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.
Kentucky Regional Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
There is more than one big Section 8 waiting list update in today's alert. The Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHA) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for applications from July 22, 2024, at 9:00 am until July 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm ET.
This is for Section 8 HCV rental assistance for almost every county in the state. KHC operates the second largest Section 8 program in the country. Some areas are excluded, however, including Louisville.
The waiting list page on Affordable Housing Online details all of the areas that are included in this opening.
There are several preferences for this waiting list as well. The method for selecting applicants for the waiting list has not been disclosed. Interested individuals must complete the online application available on the KHA website during the application period.

Merced County, California Low-Income Apartment Waiting Lists
One more update is that the Housing Authority of the County of Merced (HACM) will accept applications for Section 8 Project Based Voucher and Public Housing waiting lists for multiple properties from July 19, 2024, at 9:00 am until August 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.
This waiting list also includes several preferences. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list based on the date and time the application is received and in order of preferences. To apply, individuals must complete the online application within the opening period.
