On the last weekday, Affordable Housing Online has six updates for Section 8, Project-Based Voucher, and Public Housing waiting lists!

The areas in today's alert are less spread out than in yesterday's update. Today, we have news for low-income housing waiting lists on both the eastern and western sides of the country.

Waiting Lists Opening July 19

These waiting lists open today after being closed for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.

Merced County, California Low-Income Apartment Waiting Lists

As the single opening today, Housing Authority of the County of Merced (HACM) is opening applications for multiple Public Housing and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists from July 19, 2024, at 9:00 am to August 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.

The selection process for these programs will prioritize applicants based on the date and time their applications are received, in accordance with the set preferences. Applicants are required to complete the online application within this period.

Waiting Lists Closing July 19

These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.

Grays Harbor County, Washington Section 8 Voucher Waiting Lists

Moving to today's closures, the Housing Authority of Grays Harbor County (HAGHC) is accepting Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications until July 19, 2024, at 4:30 pm PT.

There are two preferences for this program. The selection process will prioritize applicants by the date and time the applications are received, following the order of preferences. Applications should be submitted online.

Additionally, the HAGHC is closing the Section 8 Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Project-Based Voucher waiting lists for 2 and 3-bedroom apartments at the same time as the Housing Choice Voucher program.

The selection and application processes for this program mirror those of the Housing Choice Voucher program, with applicants prioritized based on their application submission time and preferences.

West Hartford, Connecticut Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

The West Hartford Housing Authority (WHHA) is accepting applications for the Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for 1 and 2-bedroom apartments at The Faxon until July 19, 2024 at 11:59 pm GMT.

The selection process will place 400 applicants on the waiting list by random lottery, considering up to three preferences. For those interested in applying, it is crucial to complete the online application during the specified dates.

Waiting Lists Announced July 19

These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are currently open or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.

Mobile, Alabama Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

First is big news from a large housing authority in the south. The Mobile Housing Authority (MHA) will accept applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 25, 2024, at 10:00 am CT until 2,000 applications are received. This marks the first time the waiting list has been open since March 2022.

There are multiple preferences for this program, including victims of federally declared disasters, participants in witness protection programs, and more.

The selection process will prioritize applicants based on the date and time their applications are received and the applicable preferences. Applications must be completed online within the specified timeframe.

Get Ready to Apply for Section 8 in Mobile, AL

Gainesville, Florida Public Housing Waiting List

Finally for today, the Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) is set to open its Public Housing waiting list for Studio and 5-Bedroom apartments starting July 31, 2024, at 10:00 am ET, until 200 applications have been received.

The waiting list prioritizes applicants based on specific preferences. There are four preferences in total; including elderly, displaced, and homeless persons. Interested individuals are required to complete the online application during the open period.
