In our mid-week alert, Affordable Housing Online has three waiting list updates for Public Housing and Project-Based Vouchers! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing in three Southeastern states.
Before getting into today's updates, please note there will not be an alert tomorrow, July 4. Housing authority offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day, and the agencies usually do not open or announce new waiting lists around the holiday.
Now, back to today's updates, this is your affordable housing waiting list alert for Wednesday, July 3, 2024:
These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are either open now or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.
Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting List
For our first update, The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) will open the Public Housing waiting list for 1-5 Bedroom apartments for one day on July 23, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.
This is the first time the waiting list has been open since May 2023. Applicants can apply online for each bedroom size during this brief window. Details on preferences and the selection process are yet to be confirmed.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Next, the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale (HACFL) is set to accept Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for Rock Island Apartments starting July 17, 2024, at 9:00 am ET.
The application process will stay open until 72 1-Bedroom applications and 150 2-Bedroom applications have been received. Rock Island Apartments, located at 2340 NW 16th St, offers 1 and 2-Bedroom units.
Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received. Specific preferences and further details on the selection process have not been confirmed. When the waiting list opens, applications must be submitted online.

Savannah, Georgia Senior and Disabled Public Housing Waiting List
Lastly, the Housing Authority of Savannah (HAS) will open the waiting list for Senior and Disabled Public Housing 1-Bedroom apartments at Stillwell Towers from July 15, 2024, at 8:30 am, until July 16, 2024, at 4:30 pm ET. This marks the first opening since May 2023.
Stillwell Towers caters to individuals 62 years and older and those with verifiable disabilities. Applications will be prioritized by date and time received. Applicants must apply online during the opening period.

These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.

These waiting lists opened on a previous day, and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
