There are 11 waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country in the last full week of July!
This is another busy week in which waiting lists are opening every weekday. Many different types of waiting lists will open for Section 8, Public Housing, and Project-Based Vouchers.
These are the waiting lists opening between July 22–26, 2024:
Kentucky Regional Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
First, is a very large opening that covers almost the entire state of Kentucky. The Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHA) is set to reopen its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for the first time since January 2022.
This is for Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in 95 of the counties in Kentucky, spread throughout the state.
Applications will be accepted from July 22, 2024, at 9:00 am until July 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm ET. The preferences for this waiting list have not yet been confirmed, and the selection process remains unspecified. Interested applicants should complete the online application available on the KHA website during the open period.

Prineville, Oregon Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Also, Housing Works will accept applications for its Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for Barned Butte Vista Apartments from July 22, 2024, at 8:00 am until July 26, 2024, at 5:00 pm PT.
Barned Butte Vista Apartments offers 2 and 3-bedroom units.

Cleveland, Tennessee Public Housing Waiting List
Lastly for Monday, the Cleveland Housing Authority (CHA) will begin accepting Project Based Rental Assistance (PBRA) waiting list applications for 3-Bedroom apartments starting on July 22, 2024, at 10:00 am ET.
This opportunity is available until 25 applications have been received, so it's expected that this waiting list will be open for a very short period. Interested applicants must complete the online application during the open period.

Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting Lists
The first of two openings Tuesday, the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) will open its Public Housing waiting list for 1 and 5-Bedroom apartments for a limited time on July 23, 2024.
This is the first of four days this week that the CHA will be opening Public Housing waiting lists for separate bedroom sizes.
Applications will be accepted from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET. Neither preferences, nor the the selection process have been confirmed. Interested applicants should complete the online application available during the open period.

Chicago Heights, Illinois Veteran Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
The Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) is also opening its Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for 1 and 2-bedroom apartments at Otto Square Veterans Housing Apartments on a limited basis.
This window will be open from July 23, 2024, at 10:00 am until July 25, 2024, at 4:00 pm CT. The HACC will only accept applications from veterans during this period. Placement on the waiting list will be determined by a randomized computer-generated lottery system.

Kenosha, Wisconsin Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Starting with a big opening for Wednesday, the Kenosha Housing Authority (KHA) is set to reopen its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list for a single day on July 24, 2024, from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm CT.
The waiting list has three preferences, and between 1,500 to 2,000 applicants will be selected through a random lottery, ordered by these preferences. To apply, complete the online application available during the short timeframe.

Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting List
The first of two housing authorities with recurring Public Housing openings is the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston. The CHA will be accepting applications for its Public Housing waiting list for 2-Bedroom apartments on July 24, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.
Applicants must complete the online application while the waiting list is open.

Cleveland, Tennessee Public Housing Waiting List
Also, the Cleveland Housing Authority will open another Public Housing waiting list – this time for Efficiency and 1-Bedroom apartments. It will open on July 24, 2024, starting at 10:00 am ET until 50 applications have been received.
As with the last opening, applicants must apply by completing the online application available during the opening period. This waiting list is also expected to close soon after it opens.

Mobile, Alabama Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The Mobile Housing Authority (MHA) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list on July 25, 2024, at 10:00 am CT, and accept applications until 2,000 have been received. This marks the first reopening since March 2022.
The waiting list includes seven preferences, and selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time their application is received, after sorting preferences. To apply, complete the online application available during the open period.

Charleston, South Carolina Public Housing Waiting List
As the series of Public Housing openings continues the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 3-Bedroom apartments on July 25, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.
All details for the waiting list are the same as the previous openings.

Our last waiting list this week completes the re-openings for Public Housing in South Carolina.
The Housing Authority of the City of Charleston (CHA) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 4-Bedroom apartments on July 26, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm ET.
As with the other bedroom sizes, the facts about this opening remain the same.
