The Jacksonville Housing Authority (JHA) Elderly (62+)/Disabled Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for one day in December, 2018; and before that for one day twice in November, 2018; and before that for one day in February, 2016. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the application at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Elderly; Disabled; Veterans; Victims of Domestic Violence; Displaced by Government Action.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.

This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jacksonville Housing Authority last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from February 8, 2021, until February 28, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

The maximum income limits for each household size were as follows:

  • 1 Person $42,000 | 5 Persons $64,800
  • 2 Persons $48,000 | 6 Persons $69,600
  • 3 Persons $54,000 | 7 Persons $74,400
  • 4 Persons $60,000 | 8 Persons $79,200

This waiting list had the following preferences:

  • Families with Disabled persons. 
  • Elderly – Age 62 and above. 
  • Veterans (Honorable discharge only). 
  • Displacement preference-Dwelling has been condemned by government action. 
  • Victims of Domestic Violence. 
  • Local - (Residency Preference - Duval county).

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application is received, weighed by order of preferences.

This waiting list is for Public Housing rental housing assistance in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jacksonville Housing Authority (JHA) is accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for 5-bedroom apartments from November 13, 2023, until further notice.

To apply while the waiting list is open, complete the online application.

Please note: The JHA public notice states, this waiting list has the following "Criteria:

  • CW5 - Public Housing working family five bedroom waiting list (a minimum 5-person household, where the head of house, spouse or co-head is employed at least 20 hours per week, full-time student, elderly or disabled).
  • CV5- Public Housing non- working family five bedroom waiting list (a minimum 5-person household, where the head of house, spouse or co-head is not employed at least 20 hours per week, a full-time student, elderly or disabled)".

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

Open Until Further Notice: Emergency Housing Voucher Other Project Based Waiting List

This waiting list is for Other Project Based rental housing assistance in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Jacksonville Housing Authority (JHA) Emergency Housing Voucher waiting list is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least July, 2021, until further notice.

Please note: According to the JHA public notice, "These EHV's are designed to assist the following eligible individuals or families who are experiencing homelessness; at risk of experiencing homelessness; fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking; or were recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family's homelessness or having high risk of housing instability.'

To apply during the opening period, contact the CoC-Continuum of Care at (904) 358-2411, or other homeless or victim services providers through the Coordinated Entry Program for a referral.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.
