Brentwood Senior Commons consists of 80 apartments for seniors located in sunny eastern Contra Costa County. Brentwood Senior Commons is ideally situated for seniors, within walking distance (a half-mile) to the City's senior center, City Hall, the post office, police department, grocery stores, restaurants, theater, downtown Brentwood spcialty shops and businesses, a library, and a new park, Heron Park. The John Muir Medical Center offer comprehensive medical care within a mile of the Brentwood Senior Commons apartments, and a local transit bus route stops right in front of the new building.

The 80 residences are all one bedroom units with sizes ranging from 627 to 764 square feet. Each apartment is designed with some semi-private outdoor space such as front porches or balconies. Additionally, there is a large community building adjacent to a landscaped area with a gazebo, and a swimming pool and Jacuzzi. At Brentwood, each apartment has its own washer and dryer.

As always, Eden Housing Resident Services, Inc. provides services for the new senior residents. Brentwood Senior Commons and its service providers will support aging in place - ensuring that seniors live independently even as they become frail. The large services office in the community building will assure that residents get connected to services they may need and social activities in the community spaces will reduce social isolation that often results at this stage of life.

This LIHTC property is among the most common types of affordable rental housing in the United States. The LIHTC program only provides subsidies to the building’s owner at construction. No subsidies are provided directly to the residents, but the owner must set rents affordable to low-income renters in the area. Our data suggests Brentwood Senior Commons does not participate in any project-based rent subsidy program. This means you must earn enough to pay the full rent or have your own Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. For that reason, LIHTC properties tend to have shorter waiting lists or even none at all.
