Steven Michael Carroll House, formerly known as Humboldt House, is the newest renovated community run by Thresholds, an organization that bills itself as one of the oldest and largest providers of recovery services for persons with mental illnesses and substance use disorders in Illinois.

All of the apartments and common areas have been renovated, including new paint, flooring, windows and mechanical systems. New kitchens and bathrooms were installed in the studios and one-bedroom units.An elevator was also installed along with several amenities including a community room with a full kitchen, an exercise room, a computer lab, an on-site laundry room, bike storage and a landscaped courtyard.
