Westwind-Linden Apartments is an affordable family complex consisting of 19 one-bedroom and 6 two-bedroom units, of which two are handicap accessible. These are very well-maintained, total electric, brick 4-plexes built in 1979. Units have carpet and vinyl, and all units are equipped with electric stoves and refrigerators, garbage disposals, and air conditioning. We have a playground for the children and shaded picnic areas for all residents. The residents enjoy a country atmosphere with the benefits of small-town living, yet the convenience of being just minutes from larger communities.
This property was financed by the USDA Section 515 program. This housing program was used to build affordable apartment communities in rural areas from the 1970’s through the 1990’s, with very few new properties built since then. Historically, the program had financial restrictions that limited the size, quality and amenities at properties. Unless Linden Westwind Apartments has been renovated, it is likely to have smaller units and fewer amenities. Since the property is in a rural area, it may be one of only a few affordable rentals in the area.
