The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Housing Authority (LHA) Self-Sufficiency Public Housing waiting list for apartments at Northwest Lexington and Northeast Lexington is currently closed. Applications were last accepted from August 9, 2021, until October 31, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Northwest Lexington Properties have 2, 3 and 4-Bedroom units
Northeast Lexington Properties have 1 and 3-Bedroom units

Please note: According to the LHA public notice, "the Self-Sufficiency program requires that the head-of-household or spouse/co-head-of-household must demonstrate he/she has been working for at least 37.5 hours per week for Self-Sufficiency I, or 20 hours per week for Self Sufficiency II", "Elderly and disabled persons who meet all of the Self-Sufficiency Housing requirements with the exception of the work requirement may also be eligible for these units."

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

This LIHTC property is among the most common types of affordable rental housing in the United States. The LIHTC program only provides subsidies to the building’s owner at construction. No subsidies are provided directly to the residents, but the owner must set rents affordable to low-income renters in the area. Our data suggests 12th Street does not participate in any project-based rent subsidy program. This means you must earn enough to pay the full rent or have your own Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. For that reason, LIHTC properties tend to have shorter waiting lists or even none at all. LIHTC properties nationwide are required to accept housing vouchers.
