Northport Apartments provides housing for the most culturally diverse and poorest families in Dane County. Located on Madison’s East Side, this Section 8 development consists of 140 units of garden-style apartments.
Northport Community Learning Center opened in 1994 and spans 8000 square feet of floor space. Programs and services include job training, child care, Head Start, GED and classes for English as a Second Language, post-secondary education preparation, academic testing, and support services.
The Neighborhood Networks computer lab, one of the first to open in the nation, features 30 workspaces with access to the internet. This allows residents to learn new skills and enhance their career opportunities. More than 100 children use the vast library of educational software. The access to technology is opening new horizons for residents and their children.
