To start the week off, Affordable Housing Online has nine waiting list updates for Section 8, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing scattered all over the country.
This is your affordable housing waiting list alert for Monday, July 15, 2024:
These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.
Orlando, Florida Public Housing Waiting List
First, is a big waiting list opening in the southeast. The Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) is opening its Public Housing waiting list for applications from July 15, 2024, at 12:01 am, until July 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET.
Specific preferences and the selection process for this waiting list are yet to be confirmed. Interested individuals should complete the online application during the open period.

Marion County, Oregon Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
There are a few big Section 8 openings today too, including one by the Marion County Housing Authority (MCHA).
The MCHA will accept applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 15, 2024, at 8:00 am, until August 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.
This waiting list includes several preferences, such as residents of Marion County, and households displaced by the Beachie Creek wildfire.
Applications will be placed on the waiting list based on the date and time received, prioritized by these preferences. Applicants can apply online or in person at the MCHA office.

Greater La Plata County Area, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Housing Solutions for the Southwest (HSS) will also be accepting applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 15, 2024, to July 31, 2024.
This waiting list is for Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, and San Juan County, Colorado.
The HSS waiting list prioritizes applicants who are homeless, disabled, or victims of domestic violence. Applicants can submit their applications at the HSS office or at scheduled meeting locations.

Bloomington, Minnesota Section 8 Voucher Waiting Lists
Additionally, the Bloomington Housing and Redevelopment Authority (BHRA) is reopening both its Section 8 Voucher and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists for the first time since September 2018. Both waiting lists are open starting from July 15, 2024, until further notice.
These waiting lists have several preferences, including those terminated from the HCV program due to funding issues, victims of domestic violence, and individuals displaced involuntarily.
Applicants will be placed on either waiting list based on the date and time received, with preferences considered. Applications can be completed online, and the BHRA will host workshops to assist applicants.

Get the Bloomington, Minnesota Project-Based Voucher Waiting List Application
West Hartford, Connecticut Project-Based Voucher Waiting List
Another Project-Based Voucher opening is by the West Hartford Housing Authority (WHHA) in Connecticut.
Starting today, July 15, 2024, at 8:30 am, the WHHA will accept applications for the Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for 1 and 2-bedroom apartments at The Faxon until July 19, 2024, at 11:59 pm GMT.
While specific preferences are not yet confirmed, the waiting list will place 400 selected applicants by random lottery, considering any preferences that may apply. Interested applicants must complete the online application during the specified period.

Savannah, Georgia Senior and Disabled Public Housing Waiting List
In the final opening update today, the Housing Authority of Savannah (HAS) is opening its Senior and Disabled Public Housing waiting list for 1-bedroom apartments at Stillwell Towers from July 15, 2024, at 8:30 am, until July 16, 2024, at 4:30 pm ET.
Stillwell Towers offers one-bedroom units to persons 62 years and older or persons with disabilities.
Preferences have not been confirmed, and applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received, by order of preferences. To apply, complete the online application within the specified timeframe.

These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are currently open or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.
Johnson County, Kansas Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Now to future openings, the Johnson County Housing Authority (JCHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for one day only on July 31, 2024, from 9:00 am until 600 applications have been received. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in July 2023.
This waiting list has preferences for residency in Johnson County (excluding the City of Olathe), survivors of domestic violence, and elderly or disabled individuals. It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
To apply, those interested must complete the online application.

Englewood, Colorado Project-Based Waiting List
Lastly, Innovative Housing Concepts (IHC) will accept waiting list applications for 1-bedroom apartments at Orchard Place and Simon Center from August 13, 2024, at 8:00 am, until August 15, 2024, at 5:00 pm MT.
Orchard Place Apartments and Simon Center both offer preferences for low-income elderly (62+) and adults with disabilities.
Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received. To apply, complete the online application during the specified period.
Get Ready to Apply for the Englewood, CO Project-Based Waiting List
These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.
