There are 12 waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country as we move further into the summer!
This is a busy week again with at least one waiting list opening every weekday, except Friday. These openings are for a variety of housing types, including Section 8, Public Housing, and Project-Based Voucher waiting lists.
These are the waiting lists opening between July 29–Aug 2, 2024:
Spartanburg, South Carolina Rental Assistance Demonstration Waiting List
Starting this week's openings, the Spartanburg Housing Authority (SHA) will open its Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) waiting list applications for Frank Gooch Apartments from July 29, 2024, at 9:00 am until August 9, 2024, at 12:00 pm ET.
While preferences and the selection process details have not been confirmed, interested applicants are encouraged to complete the online application during the specified period.

Homewood, Illinois Senior Project Based Voucher Waiting List
Moving east, the Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) will accept Senior Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for Freedom Village Apartments from July 29, 2024, at 10:00 am until August 1, 2024, at 4:00 pm CT.
Freedom Village offers 1 and 2-bedroom apartments for seniors aged 62 and older. This waiting list prioritizes applicants currently on HACC’s Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waitlist. 150 applicants will be placed on the 1-bedroom waiting list, and 75 on the 2-bedroom waiting list, all selected by random lottery according to preferences.
Applications must be submitted online while the waitlist is open.
Get Ready to Apply for Senior Project-Based Voucher Housing in Homewood, IL
Vacaville, California Project Based Voucher Waiting Lists
Now on the west coast, the Vacaville Housing Authority (VHA) is opening its Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for three apartment properties.
From July 29, 2024, at 8:30 am until August 12, 2024, at 5:00 pm PT, applications will be accepted for 2 and 3-bedroom apartments at Orchard Maples, 2-bedroom apartments at The Willows, and 3-bedroom apartments at Lincoln Corner Apartments.
Although preferences have not been confirmed yet, 200 selected applicants will be placed on each waiting list by random lottery, ordered by preferences. Applicants are required to complete the online application during the open period.
Get Ready to Apply for Project-Based Voucher Housing in Vacaville, CA
Greater Spokane Area, Washington Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The one opening Tuesday is for one of the largest Section 8 programs in the northwest. The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) is set to open the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from July 30, 2024, at 8:00 am until August 5, 2024, at 5:00 pm PT.
This waiting list is for Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in Spokane, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry, and Whitman, Washington.
While preferences have not yet been confirmed, selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list based on the date and time the application is received. Make sure to apply early to get a higher position on the waiting list.
Interested individuals must complete the online application during the open period.

Johnson County, Kansas Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Onto another Section 8 opening, the Johnson County Housing Authority (JCHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for one day only on July 31, 2024, starting at 9:00 am, until 600 applications have been received. This marks the first time the waiting list has reopened since it closed in July 2023.
This waiting list has several preferences, including residency, survivor of domestic violence, and elderly and/or disabled applicants.
The selection process for placing applicants on the waiting list remains unspecified. To apply, interested individuals should complete the online application during the specified time frame.

Gainesville, Florida Public Housing Waiting List
Switching programs, the Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) will open its Public Housing waiting list for Studio and 5-Bedroom apartments on July 31, 2024, at 10:00 am ET, until 200 applications have been received.
Preferences for this waiting list include elderly, displaced, homeless, and disabled persons. The selection process prioritizes applicants based on the date and time of their application, alongside these preferences. Applications must be submitted online while the waitlist is open.
Get Ready to Apply for Public Housing in Gainesville, FL
Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
First today, is another Section 8 opening. The Housing Authority of the County of Lackawanna (HACL) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from August 1, 2024, until August 16, 2024. This marks the first opening since the list closed in April 2023.
The waiting list gives preference to various groups, including victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking, or those seeking an emergency transfer under VAWA, with each group receiving five points.
Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list based on the date and time the application is received, with preferences taken into account. Applications can be picked up from the HACL main office or printed from their website and must be mailed to HACL once completed.

Freeport, Illinois Low Income Housing Tax Credit Waiting List
Traveling a little to the west, the Winnebago County Housing Authority (WHA) will accept Low Income Housing Tax Credit waiting list applications for 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments at Westport Village from August 1, 2024, until further notice.
The preferences and the method for placing applicants on the waiting list are yet to be confirmed. Applications can be submitted online while the list remains open.
Get Ready to Apply for LIHTC Housing in Freeport, IL
Bossier City, Louisiana Public Housing Waiting List
Heading south, the Housing Authority of Bossier City (HABC) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for 1 and 2-bedroom apartments from August 1, 2024, at 8:00 AM until August 15, 2024, at 5:00 PM CT.
While preferences are still unconfirmed, applicants will be placed on the list by the date and time their application is received. The application process is entirely online during the open period.

Shreveport, Louisiana Project Based Waiting List
Staying in-state to complete the week, the Housing Authority of the City of Shreveport (HACS) will accept waiting list applications for 3-bedroom apartments at Scattered Sites and Hollywood Heights from August 1, 2024, at 8:00 AM until August 15, 2024, at 5:00 PM CT.
As with other agencies, preferences have not yet been confirmed, and applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time their application is received. Applications must be completed online during the specified period.

Unlike last week, there are no new low-income housing waiting list openings next Friday.
