There are seven (7) big waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country next week!
Waiting lists are opening on three different days this week, and in six different states. Many of these areas have large program sizes, so this is a great time to find new housing opportunities!
We bring you this summary every week to help make it easier to apply when the waiting list opens. Preparing early for an upcoming opening may help you get housing over others. And as a reminder, you do not need to live in the area to apply to most waiting lists.
Get ready to apply to the major housing waiting lists that are opening between May 6-10, 2024:
Alameda County, California Section 8 and Project Based Voucher Waiting Lists
The Housing Authority of the County of Alameda (HACA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for one day only on May 6, 2024 from 8:00 am, until 8:00 pm PT.
Albemarle County, Virginia Section 8 and Project-Based Voucher Waiting Lists
The Albemarle County Office of Housing (ACOH) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications from May 6, 2024 at 10:00 am, until May 13, 2024 at 4:00 pm ET.
Daytona Beach, Florida Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The Daytona Beach Housing Authority (DBHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from May 6, 2024 at 8:30 am, until May 10, 2024 at 5:00 pm ET. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in February, 2021.
Prichard, Alabama Public Housing Waiting Lists
The Mobile Housing Board (MHB) will accept Public Housing waiting list applications for multiple properties from May 6, 2024 at 9:00 am, until May 10, 2024 at 3:00 pm CT.
There are no new waiting list openings next Tuesday.
Altoona, Pennsylvania Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
The Altoona Housing Authority (AHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from May 8, 2024, until May 22, 2024.
Dickenson County, Virginia Section 8 Voucher Waiting List
Dickenson County Rental Assistance will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications for one day only on May 8, 2024 from 9:00 am, until 4:00 pm ET. This is the first time the waiting list has been open since it closed in August, 2023.
Mission, Texas Section 8 Voucher and Public Housing Waiting Lists
The Housing Authority of the City of Mission (MHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing waiting list applications from May 9, 2024 at 8:00 am CT. Both waiting lists will close after 300 applications in general are accepted, according to a MHA representative.
There are no new waiting list openings next Friday.
