How To Apply to the Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List
The Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Authority (SHRA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for two weeks in January, 2018. Before that, it was open in September, 2015, for two weeks in September, 2014, and in June, 2012. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.
To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.
This waiting list had the following preferences: Live, work, or hired to work in Sacramento County; veteran; permanently disabled; rent burdened; homeless.
Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.
Nearly 43,000 people applied during the last opening.
