The Regional Housing Authority (RHA) Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for apartments at Truckee Artist Lofts is currently closed. Applications were last accepted since at least July 2020, until further notice.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

This waiting list may have had any of the following preferences:

Families with at least one adult working
- Families with at least one adult working 6 months. Extended to elderly families and family with hoh or spouse with permanent disability receiving income.
Family who lives in Sutter Nev Col Yuba
- Resident who lives in Sutter, Nevada, Colusa, or Yuba Counties
Household member is veteran or service person
Involuntary Displaced
- Involuntary displacement due to government action, action of housing owner, inaccessibility, property disposition.
Victim of Domestic Violence
- Victim of Domestic Violence within the previous 6 months

Truckee Artist Lofts (TAL) is a mixed-use, affordable housing community for artists and local workforce, located at the Truckee Railyard Project in downtown Truckee. The community includes 76 income-restricted rental apartments, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, and ground floor commercial/retail space.

TAL is a place for creative individuals and households to live, work, learn and collaborate with one another. The building and units include features specifically designed for Truckee-area artists. TAL's common areas include an Art Room, Band Room, and outdoor common terrace with a BBQ picnic area overlooking gorgeous views of the Truckee mountains. On-Site parking, Laundry Facilities, along with a unique mix of ground floor commercial/retail space will make TAL a truly unique live/work/play environment.

This LIHTC property is among the most common types of affordable rental housing in the United States. The LIHTC program only provides subsidies to the building’s owner at construction. No subsidies are provided directly to the residents, but the owner must set rents affordable to low-income renters in the area. Our data suggests Truckee Artist Lofts does not participate in any project-based rent subsidy program. This means you must earn enough to pay the full rent or have your own Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher. For that reason, LIHTC properties tend to have shorter waiting lists or even none at all. LIHTC properties nationwide are required to accept housing vouchers. LIHTC properties were first built in the late 1980's. Because they tend to be newer, these properties are more likely to have larger units, more amenities, and greater tenant service offerings than other affordable housing programs. This property might be right for you if you have a housing voucher or enough income to pay rent, are looking for a high quality property, or need immediate availability. Since this property participates in the LIHTC program, the property is required to accept Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
