The Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) last accepted Senior Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list applications for 1 and 2-Bedroom apartments at Wisdom Village of Northlake, Forest Oaks Senior, Thomas Place, Poplar Creek Village and Carriage Creek Apartments from November 6, 2023, until November 9, 2023. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

Forest Oaks is a privately owned and operated 56 unit senior housing community with one and two bedroom apartments. To be eligible Forest Oaks, the head of household, co-head of household, or spouse must be 55 years old or older and have income that does not exceed 50% of the AMI. Residents of this development pay 30% of his/her income towards the rent and the HACC subsidizes the remainder of the rent to the owner.
Because Forest Oaks Apartments participates in HUD's HOME program for rental housing and the LIHTC program, at least some of the units in this property are set aside for households earning 60% or less of the AMI and rents are capped at the local FMR and in many cases much lower. For a HOME project of this size, some of the units are set aside for households at or below 50% AMI with a corresponding lower rent cap. As this property appears not to have a project-based subsidy or any other Federal assistance, you likely will have to pay your own rent, albeit, at a lower rent amount thanks to the HOME and LIHTC programs. Since this property participates in the HOME and LIHTC programs, the property is required to accept Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
