Waitlist Forecast

Since this property is a Section 811 property and includes rental assistance, it will tend to have a longer waiting list. Sometimes these waiting lists can be months or years long and may or may not be accepting new applicants. You should contact the property to verify.

Note: Affordable Housing Online has not confirmed the waiting list status directly with the property. This waiting list status forecast is based on our housing experts' knowledge of similar properties. You should always confirm this status directly with the property.

The Burke apartments are for persons with permanent physical disabilities, mobility impairments or Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), which is determined by the applicant's doctor. There are both one and two bedroom units at this property. Up to two persons can live in a one bedroom unit; four persons can live in a two bedroom unit. One bedrooms are approximately 545 square feet; two bedrooms are approximately 750 square feet.

The rent and deposits are all based on the households adjusted gross income; rent would be 30% of the adjusted gross income. There are no income minimums, but there are income limits the household must fall below in order to income qualify. This property does have a wait list; the timeframe is hard to determine, as we do not know when a current resident will give notice. Typically it could be several months to a year or longer, but again it is hard to say an exact timeframe.

If you would like, you could visit our website, www.accessiblespace.org to see all the housing locations we have and some information on each property. There you can print or complete a housing application and choose whichever locations the applicant would like to be place on the wait lists. If you would like a housing application to be mailed out to you, you can call 1-800-466-7722 and ask for extension 295.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Dave's Thoughts On Burke Apartments

As a Section 811 property, this apartment community only allows persons with disabilities. A person of any age with a disability, and an income at or below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI), qualifies for residency. In addition, Burke Apartments is highly desirable because it offers rent subsidies and will tend to have a longer waiting list. This program was first introduced in 1990, so these younger properties are generally in good condition. Since the property includes a rent subsidy, you would pay no more than 30% of your income toward rent. Most of these properties include a resident services coordinator that organizes and facilitates services like healthcare management, transportation, and social activities. If you are a low-income person with a disability and need some help maintaining independent living, this property might be right for you. Since this property participates in the HUD 811 program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
