Riverview East is a 7-story high rise building located on Route 47. The Riverview East population is comprised of a mix of senior citizens and near elderly disabled (age 50 to 62) residents.
This facility has one-bedroom and efficiency apartments, equipped with electric ranges and refrigerators. Located on the first floor is a Community Room for group activities, laundry facilities, and on-site mail boxes. There is a tenant entry card system for security. For qualified senior residents, there is a daily lunch program available provided through County services. The city library, U.S. Post Office, and NJ Transit bus stops are within walking distance of the building. A full-service shopping center is two miles away, and medical facilities are with six miles of the complex.
This property is funded through HUD’s Public Housing program. These properties are typically owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority. These properties tend to be much older, as no new public housing has been built in many years. Since the Federal budget has historically (and notoriously) underfunded public housing renovations for decades, these properties tend to have higher vacancies due to uninhabitable units or liveable units that are in poor condition. In addition, since all public housing properties offer rent subsidies, low-income residents only pay rent based on their incomes. For that reason, these properties tend to have longer waiting lists. Check our public housing waiting list data for more information. Since Riverview East participates in the Public Housing program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
