The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) is accepting Family Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for apartments at Westlawn Gardens, Scattered Sites and Town Homes at Carver Park Apartments from December 15, 2021 at 9:00 am CT, until further notice.

This waiting list was for the following properties:

Westlawn Gardens has 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-Bedroom units.
Scattered Sites have 2, 3, 4 and 5-Bedroom units.
Town Homes at Carver Park has 3, 4 and 5-Bedroom units.

To apply while the waitlist is open, complete the online application.

The maximum income limits for each household size are as follows:

1 person $29,550 | 5 persons $45,600
2 persons $33,800 | 6 persons $49,000
3 persons $38,000 | 7 persons $52,350
4 persons $42,200 | 8 persons $55,750

This waiting list has the following preferences:

Westlawn Gardens, is for families of 1 or more persons.
Scattered Sites, is for families of 2 or more persons.
Town Homes at Carver Park, is for families of 3 or more persons.

It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Dave's Thoughts On Scat Site North and West

This property is funded through HUD’s Public Housing program. These properties are typically owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority. These properties tend to be much older, as no new public housing has been built in many years. Since the Federal budget has historically (and notoriously) underfunded public housing renovations for decades, these properties tend to have higher vacancies due to uninhabitable units or liveable units that are in poor condition. In addition, since all public housing properties offer rent subsidies, low-income residents only pay rent based on their incomes. For that reason, these properties tend to have longer waiting lists. Since Scat Site North and West participates in the Public Housing program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
