Family Waiting List

The Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) last accepted Family Public Housing waiting list applications for apartments at Hillside Terrace, Parklawn and Scattered Sites Apartments from December 15, 2021, until further notice. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

This waiting list was for the following properties:

Hillside Terrace has 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-Bedroom units.
Parklawn has 1, 2 and 3-Bedroom units.
Scattered Sites have 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6-Bedroom units.

To apply while the waitlist was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.

The maximum income limits for each household size were as follows:

1 person $47,250 | 5 persons $72,900
2 persons $54,000 | 6 persons $78,300
3 persons $60,750 | 7 persons $83,700
4 persons $67,500 | 8 persons $89,100

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

It was not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list.

Dave's Thoughts On Scat Site South

This property is funded through HUD’s Public Housing program. These properties are typically owned and managed by a Public Housing Authority. These properties tend to be much older, as no new public housing has been built in many years. Since the Federal budget has historically (and notoriously) underfunded public housing renovations for decades, these properties tend to have higher vacancies due to uninhabitable units or liveable units that are in poor condition. In addition, since all public housing properties offer rent subsidies, low-income residents only pay rent based on their incomes. For that reason, these properties tend to have longer waiting lists. Since Scat Site South participates in the Public Housing program and has a property based subsidy, if you have a Section 8 voucher, you would have to give up your voucher to move in.
