For our last alert this week, Affordable Housing Online has nine waiting list updates for Section 8, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing in the South, Southeast, and Midwest.

This is your affordable housing waiting list alert for Friday, June 28, 2024:

Waiting Lists Closing June 28

These waiting lists opened on a previous day, and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.

Greater Richmond Area, Virginia Low-Income Housing Waiting Lists

The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) is closing both its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing waiting lists on June 28, 2024, at 5:00 pm ET. Specific preferences have not yet been detailed.

The Section 8 HCV waiting list is for rental housing assistance in the City of Richmond and also Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico County, Virginia.

The only known selection process is for the Public Housing waiting list, which is by date and time.

Greater Roanoke-Chowan Area, North Carolina Mainstream Voucher Waiting List

Shifting to the Roanoke-Chowan Regional Housing Authority (RCRHA), a similar opportunity is closing for Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher applications on June 28, 2024.

This waiting list is for Mainstream Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in Halifax, Hertford and Northampton County, North Carolina.

The RCRHA specifies a working preference for applicants working at least 20 hours per week. This application process is online only.

Lexington, Kentucky Public Housing Waiting Lists

Moving north, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Housing Authority (LHA) is closing two waiting lists for its Self-Sufficiency Public Housing program. This program has a work requirement, which varies depending on the type of Self-Sufficiency site.

First, the Northwest Lexington Properties 1-4 Bedroom waiting list will close June 28, 2024 at 11:59 pm ET.

Also, applications for 1-bedroom apartments at South Lexington Properties are being accepted until June 28, 2024.

Aurora, Colorado Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

One more closure is with the Aurora Housing Authority (AHA). The AHA is accepting applications for its Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for Peoria Crossing II Apartments until June 28, 2024.

The selection process here will include a random lottery, and like other programs, the application must be completed online.


Waiting Lists Opening June 28

These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.

Odessa, Texas Public Housing Waiting List

The Housing Authority of Odessa (HACO) has announced that it will be accepting Public Housing waiting list applications for 2-Bedroom Apartments at Third Edition Apartments.

This application period opens on June 28, 2024, and will close on July 12, 2024. To secure a spot on the waiting list, interested applicants must submit their applications online before it closes

Greater La Plata County Area, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Housing Solutions for the Southwest (HSS) is set to open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 15, 2024, to July 31, 2024.

This waiting list is for a large area, including Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, and San Juan County, Colorado.

The waiting list will prioritize individuals who are homeless, disabled, or victims of domestic violence, though the exact selection process remains unspecified. Applications can be submitted either at the HSS office, or at designated meeting locations on specific dates and times.

Colorado Springs, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Shortly after, the Colorado Springs Housing Authority (CSHA) will also begin accepting applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program – starting from July 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm until July 18, 2024, at 12:00 pm MT.

This reopening comes after a year since the last opening in July 2023. Preference will be given to those who live or work in El Paso County. Applicants will be selected through a random lottery system based on these preferences, with an online application process on the CSHA website. Additionally, CSHA offers a Spanish translation option for the application online.
