The Housing Authority of the County of Monterey (HACM) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for more than two weeks in October 2017; and before that from September until October 2015, and in 2008. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences: HCV assistance terminated due to insufficient funding, Monterey County resident; working 24+ hours a week; enrolled in job training or educational program; elderly; disabled, U.S. veteran or surviving spouse; involuntarily displaced by government action; victim of domestic violence; live in a place that accepts HCV vouchers; homeless persons referred by County of Monterey Continuum of Care who are existing transitional housing programs or emergency shelters with no other permanent housing options, formerly homeless families or homeless families enrolled in case management, transitional housing, or other self-sufficiency program.

25% of applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.
