Nearing the end of the week, Affordable Housing Online has seven waiting list updates for Section 8 Vouchers, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing! Today's alert is for low-income rental housing in the Midwest, South, and West Coast.

Waiting Lists Opening July 11

These waiting lists open today after being closed for application submissions for a period of time. Most of these openings are only for a limited time, so don't delay if an opportunity is right for you.

Greater Lansing Area, Michigan Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Today's new opening is for one of the largest Section 8 programs in the state of Michigan. The Lansing Housing Commission (LHC) will be accepting applications for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list starting from July 11, 2024, at 12:01 am until July 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET. This marks the first opening of the waiting list since November 2023.

This waiting list is for Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in Lansing, East Lansing, Holt, Dimondale, Potterville, Charlotte, Mason, Grand Ledge, Parts of DeWitt and Williamston, Michigan.

The waiting list will have several preferences and 500 applicants will be selected and placed on the list through a random lottery, taking these preferences into account. To apply, interested individuals need to complete the online application available on the LHC website.

Waiting Lists Closing July 11

These waiting lists opened on a previous day and are scheduled to close today. Even though a number of applications have already been submitted, it is still possible to qualify for these waiting lists.

Plymouth, Minnesota Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

In another Section 8 opportunity, the Plymouth Housing and Redevelopment Authority (PHRA) is closing its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list on July 11, 2024, at 4:30 pm CT.

The waiting list prioritizes individuals who are involuntarily displaced, homeless, rent burdened, live or work in Hennepin County, or have a head of household unable to work due to disability. A random lottery will select 500 applicants based on these preferences. Applications are to be submitted online.

Galveston, Texas Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

Heading south, the Galveston Housing Authority (GHA) will stop accepting applications for the Section 8 Project Based Voucher waiting list for 2 and 4-bedroom apartments on July 11, 2024, at 6:00 pm CT.

Preferences and the selection process for this list are not yet confirmed. Interested applicants should apply online during the open period.

Greater Marin Area, California Senior and Disabled Public Housing Waiting List

As the final closing, the Marin Housing Authority (MHA) will close its waiting list for Senior and Disabled Public Housing for studio apartments at various properties on July 11, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT. This is the first opening since May 2023.

The properties included for this waiting list are Casa Nova, Golden Hinde, Venetia Oaks, Kruger Pines, and Homestead Terrace. Each of these properties are located in in Novato, San Rafael and Mill Valley, California.

Applicants must meet specific income limits, and the waiting list gives preferences to various groups. Selection will be based on the application date and time, weighted by these preferences. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the MHA office.

Waiting Lists Announced July 11

These waiting lists were just discovered by our housing experts, and are either open now or will open soon. Make sure you get everything you need to know to apply during the opening period.

Lakewood, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

For the first announcement, Metro West Housing Solutions (MHS) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM until July 31, 2024, at 4:00 PM MT. This marks the first reopening since July 2023.

Applicants must meet specific income limits based on household size, and preferences for this waiting list are yet to be confirmed. The selection process will involve a random lottery, considering the order of preferences. Applications can be submitted online through the MHS website.

Glynn County, Georgia Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

As the final Section 8 update today, the Brunswick Housing Authority (BHA) they will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from August 9, 2024, at 8:00 am until either 100 in-person and 100 online applications are received or until August 19, 2024, at 12:00 am ET.

This is the first opening since July 2023. There are several preferences for this waiting list. The selection will be based on a random lottery, taking these preferences into account.

Applicants can apply either by picking up an application in person at the BHA office or completing the online application. Completed paper applications must be returned to the BHA office by the specified deadline.

Spartanburg, South Carolina RAD Project-Based Waiting List

One last announcement is that the Spartanburg Housing Authority (SHA) will accept Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Project-Based waiting list applications for Frank Gooch Apartments from July 29, 2024, at 9:00 am until August 9, 2024, at 12:00 pm ET.

Preferences and the selection process details are yet to be confirmed. Applications can be submitted online during the open period.
