Low-Income Housing Waiting Lists Open July 15–19, 2024 | Affordable Housing Online

There are thirteen waiting lists for low-income housing that open across the country in the middle of July!

Low-Income housing waiting lists are opening on each weekday next week, which is rare. There will be many different waiting lists open for Section 8, Project-Based Vouchers, and Public Housing.

These are the waiting lists opening between July 15–19, 2024:

Monday Openings (July 15, 2024)

Orlando, Florida Public Housing Waiting List

Starting with a large opening, the Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) will open its Public Housing waiting list from July 15, 2024, at 12:01 am, until July 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET.

It has not been confirmed if there are any preferences, or which selection method is being used. Applicants must complete the online application during this period.

Marion County, Oregon Section 8 Voucher Waiting Lists

The Marion County Housing Authority (MCHA) has two Section 8 waiting lists opening on Monday.

First, the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list will be open until August 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.

Applicants will be placed on the list by date and time, weighed by several preferences, including for those displaced by the Beachie Creek wildfire. Applications can be completed online or in person at the MCHA office.

Starting at the same time, the MCHA will accept Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list applications for Colonia Unidad Apartments and Twilight Courts Apartments until August 15, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.

Preferences for this list have not been confirmed, and applications can also be submitted online or in person.

Greater La Plata County Area, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Moving a bit southeast, Housing Solutions for the Southwest (HSS) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher applications from July 15, 2024, until July 31, 2024.

This waiting list is for Section 8 HCV rental housing assistance in Archuleta, Dolores, La Plata, and San Juan County, Colorado.

Preferences include those for the homeless, disabled, and victims of domestic violence. Applications can be submitted at the HSS office or at scheduled meeting locations.

Bloomington, Minnesota Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

The Bloomington Housing and Redevelopment Authority (BHRA) will also open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 15, 2024, until further notice.

This is the first time the list has opened since September 2018, so there may not be another time to apply for years. Applicants will be placed on the list by date and time of application, weighed by various preferences.

Applications can be completed online or in person at the BHRA office, with workshops available for assistance.

The BHRA will also open the Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list on the same date, with similar preferences and application methods.

Savannah, Georgia Senior and Disabled Public Housing Waiting List

Turning to a different program, the Housing Authority of Savannah (HAS) will accept applications for Senior and Disabled Public Housing for 1-Bedroom apartments at Stillwell Towers from July 15, 2024, at 8:30 am, until July 16, 2024, at 4:30 pm ET.

Preferences have not been confirmed, and applications must be completed online.

West Hartford, Connecticut Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

Lastly for Monday, the West Hartford Housing Authority (WHHA) will open its Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for 1 and 2-Bedroom Apartments at The Faxon from July 15, 2024, at 8:30 am, until July 19, 2024, at 11:59 pm GMT.

Applicants will be selected by random lottery and must complete the online application during this period.


Tuesday Openings (July 16, 2024)

Colorado Springs, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

There's just one opening today, but it's a big one.

The Colorado Springs Housing Authority (CSHA) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm, until July 18, 2024, at 12:00 pm MT.

This marks the first reopening since July 2023. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by a random lottery, considering preferences for those who live or work in El Paso County. Applications must be submitted online.

For Spanish-speaking applicants, pre-application instructions are available on the CSHA website.


Wednesday Openings (July 17, 2024)

Lorain County, Ohio Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Wednesday also has a large Section 8 opening, and it won't be open long.

The Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) will accept Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher applications for one day only on July 17, 2024, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm ET. This is the first time the list has been open since April 2023.

Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received. Applications can be submitted online, and kiosks will be available at multiple locations in Lorain and Elyria for in-person submissions.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida Project-Based Voucher Waiting List

Also today, the Housing Authority of the City of Fort Lauderdale (HACFL) will open the Section 8 Project-Based Voucher waiting list for Rock Island Apartments on July 17, 2024, at 9:00 am ET.

This waiting list will close once 72 applications for 1-bedroom units and 150 applications for 2-bedroom units have been received. Applicants will be placed on the list by date and time the application is received. Applications must be completed online during the opening period.


Thursday Openings (July 18, 2024)

Lakewood, Colorado Section 8 Voucher Waiting List

Today is another day with a large waiting list opening.

Metro West Housing Solutions (MHS) will open its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list from July 18, 2024, at 9:00 AM, until July 31, 2024, at 4:00 PM MT.

This is the first reopening since July 2023. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by preferences. During the open period, applications must be submitted online.


Friday Openings (July 19, 2024)

Merced County, California Project-Based Voucher Waiting Lists

Friday openings are rare, but we do have one this week.

The Housing Authority of the County of Merced (HACM) will accept Section 8 Project-Based Voucher applications for multiple properties from July 19, 2024, at 9:00 am, until August 19, 2024, at 4:00 pm PT.

Preferences for these waiting lists have not yet been confirmed. Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received, considering the order of preferences. Applications must be completed online during the specified period.
